I find myself living for the weekends. I’m not sure if it’s because I don’t want to be where I am, or because I’d rather be where I’m not. Either way, it would sure be nice if my girlfriend lived closer than 2 hours away, or I lived less far from her.

Hey all,

I just thought I’d let anybody reading this know that I ordered the last few pieces required to get myself up and running with a functional computer. In typical frugal-geek fashion, I’ll be scavenging a few parts (Like CD/DVD drive) from my current machine in order to keep overall new-pc costs down, and what’s beautiful is that I can do just that. It’s not often a man can buy pieces of something, take some spare parts from home, and converge the two in a financially blissful new product.

If anybody’s curious, I’m putting together another mid-range. Socket 929 AMD 3200+ Venice core, MSI something-or-other mobo, a 320 GB Western Digital SATA drive (Only an 8-meg cache, but should blow my current 2-meg cache away, and it was cheapness incarnate), GeForce 7600GT, 600 Watt PSU, and Kick-ass Raidmax case are currently on their way to their happy new home. I think, to celebrate, I’ll have a marathon of FFXI sometime this month, once everything’s put together.

It’s silly how excited I get about an assembly required computer.

Alright, I’ll leave that news to stew. I know I said July would be building time, but weddings happened, and I’ve just now been able to reconcile my budget for those. I guess that’s the price to pay for having friends…

I’m a cynic

Of course, to those that know me, this statement is recieved with little surprise. So, in the universally tried fashion, I’ll substitute quality for quantity by adding that this appears to be true of almost if not all those who share my hobbies/interests to a startling degree. It’s regretful that people who are considered by most to be of above-average intelligence are also so elitist and pompous that they spend most of their (our) time complaining about and railing against our brethren, that we forget that the burden lies on us to better society through our actions and words, not simply act as history’s Monday-morning quarterbacks. So, I’m not sure if I’m trying to bring my own pendulum back to a happy median, or if I’m simply so cynical that I’ve found myself cynical of cynicism, but let’s just pretend it’s the former, so that I can sleep a little more soundly knowing that I’m better than everyone else.

I have been keeping pretty close track of technology and its own happenings and whatnot, be they frivilous or truly revolutionary. I find myself continuously torn over whether or not to report these things, mostly because I have done little to no work to find them out. I feel dirty reporting what others have spent the time digging and calling and researching to write a few paragraphs on to simply point you to their work and expect you to read it. Maybe I could summarize a week’s worth of information or something like that, but it still feels a bit dirty. Maybe that’s how all journalists feel, to a degree. I wouldn’t know.

These past few weeks have really been every bit of what I had expected life out on my own to be. Weekends are relaxing or fun or just pleasant overall, but always too short. Weeks fly as if 5 days were packed into the time it takes one to go by, so that I feel as if I wake on Monday and don’t go to bed until Friday. It’s very unnerving to get absolutely nothing accomplished outside of my job throughout the week. Definitely not something I had expected. I would like to add that man really can’t live on bread alone. He requires Bratwursts to go on the bread, and beer to wash it down.

Oh, and if anybody has gads of cash burning holes in their pants pockets, feel free to send me some DVD sets of shows. It does get a little too quiet here at times, and I could use the TV noises as a bit of company. That, and I don’t want you to end up with burned pants. It’s mostly out of concern for you, dear reader, that I suggest this constructive outlet for your funds.

With that, I must away. It seems my own pants have finished the wash cycle, and require my assistance in their migration to the dryer.
